Questions and Answers

Q1.How many death certificates should be requested?

A1.Chris and Stephanie Goes, Goes Funeral Care & Crematory:

That is up to each individual family and the assets to be cleared. Some have no estate to settle and request or need none. Others have large and complicated estates to settle. They are needed for life insurance claims; property or automobile title changes; some banking; the Will; and several other legal areas the deceased was involved in. The cost for certified copies of the death certificate in Colorado is $15 for the first one and $6 for any after that, each time they are requested. Additional copies are easily obtained in the future in the county of death County Health Department – Vital Statistics Division and by your funeral service (death care) provider.
